On Wednesday 20th September 2023, the 18 Blackfriars Road project team brought members of the local community together to celebrate the unveiling of a new, community created hoarding at 18 Blackfriars Road.

The hoarding on the northern end of the site (Stamford Street) is designed to reflect the ambitions of the development, with the themes of sustainability, wellness, creativity and performance, and community. The imagery used has been brought to life through vibrant artwork created by students at Haberdashers’ Borough Academy, The Art Academy, and members of Blackfriars Settlement. Curated by The Art Academy’s Rob Pepper and Alice Perse-Clarke, and painted by Lawless Studio, this new art installation seeks to brighten up the northern boundary of the site, whilst reflecting the key themes that are at the very heart of our development.

As part of the celebration, members of the community gathered outside the hoarding where the artists were given the opportunity to sign their work, have a photo next to their creation, and toast the launch of the installation with a Mad Hatters tea party at the Mad Hatter Pub.
